Are you practicing healthy skincare?

Published by Dresdner Essenz on 17th Sep 2019

September is National Self-Care Awareness Month, and at Dresdner Essenz we want to remind you what you put on your body is just as important as what you consume. So, along with a healthy diet, remember to incorporate healthy skincare as an integral part of your holistic wellness routine.

A recent study showed that the skin absorbs a significant amount of what is placed on it, and because kids’ skin is so sensitive, it absorbs even more. Here are a few things you should be looking for when purchasing natural and organic skincare products to ensure you’re giving your family’s skin the healthiest of care.

No harmful additives

Parabens, sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) and polyethylene glycol (PEG) are all ingredients listed among the dirty dozen chemicals to avoid in bath and body skincare. These chemical ingredients have been shown to cause eczema flare ups, irritation and allergic reactions, and have even been linked to certain cancers.

No artificial ingredients

No matter how pretty they make bath and body products look and smell, artificial fragrances are unhealthy for your body. Fragrances are a mixture of dozens of chemicals, which are not required to be listed on labels, and have been associated with a variety of skin irritations and disorders, liver and kidney failure and some cancers.

Read labels

With any diet or way of eating, you’ve learned to read every label religiously to make sure every ingredient aligns with your requirements. With bath and body products, it’s just as important to read these labels to understand what ingredients are used and how they may affect you. With natural and organic products, look for ones that are free from ingredients and additives in the dirty dozen, including perfumes.

Dresdner Essenz has been carefully developing innovative products with natural ingredients for over 100 years. We purposefully stay away from any synthetic colors, perfumes and harmful chemicals, including parabens, SLES and PEG, in all of our bath and body products, and intentionally use natural and organic alternatives to promote well-being and restore your inner balance.
